What Gush Dan means for us

Gush Dan is not one city but a run of cities that spill into each other: Tel Aviv in the middle, and around it Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Bnei Brak, Petah Tikva, Holon, Bat Yam, Rishon LeZion, Kiryat Ono and Or Yehuda.

As a service area it is a single unit. The same price, the same rules, and the same travel band of twenty-five to fifty minutes. There is no distance surcharge to any address in it, and that holds at the far edge of Rishon LeZion as much as at the far edge of Petah Tikva.

The difference between the cities is practical rather than commercial: where there is room, where there is parking, and who the neighbour is. That is what this page is about.

This is where “in an hour” actually works

It is the thing that separates Gush Dan from every other area.

On most evenings a booking can be closed the same day, and often for an hour from now. The reason is simple: the dancers live and work here and the distances are short. At the other end of the list, in Beer Sheva or Haifa, the same request needs a day or two.

What still needs planning here: a particular dancer from the catalogue on a Thursday or Friday. If there is a specific name you want, a day ahead raises the odds considerably.

How to choose a city if you are not tied to an address

Groups deciding where to hold the evening ask us this most weeks, so here is the short answer.

Up to eight of you — anywhere works, including a small flat in central Tel Aviv. Choose by what is convenient for you rather than by the room.

Ten to twenty — the suburbs are better. In Holon, Rishon LeZion and Kiryat Ono the flats are larger, parking is easier and the neighbours are further away.

If you want a garden or a pool — that means the Sharon or Or Yehuda. Inside urban Gush Dan there are almost no yards.

If the evening is built around a hotel — Tel Aviv, and from there everything is a quarter of an hour away.

Parking is a real difference between these cities

It sounds like a detail, and in Gush Dan it is the detail that most affects the hour she is at the door.

In Tel Aviv, evening parking is a gamble, particularly in the centre and in Florentin. Bat Yam and Bnei Brak are tight. Against that, in Holon, Rishon LeZion, Kiryat Ono and Petah Tikva a space is almost always there, sometimes free.

What we ask in the crowded cities: a nearby junction rather than only a house number, and ten minutes added to the arrival time. In a building with a car park, the code and floor number at the confirmation stage.

What gets booked, and what suits the room

The whole catalogue is booked in Gush Dan, but the room decides more than taste does.

In a three-room flat in an older building, lap dance, burlesque and fashion all work. A club set needs three metres by three and real bass, so it belongs in the suburbs or a loft. Pole is only possible with a properly mounted pole.

Neighbours: the building decides, not the city

There is no quiet city and no loud city in Gush Dan. There is an old building with no insulation and a new building with insulation, and both stand in the same street.

The simple rule: in a block from the fifties to the seventies, real bass after ten is felt on every floor. In a building from the last decade it does not carry. A rooftop flat added to an old frame is a special case — it looks new, sits on an old structure, and the slab is thin.

Anyone who genuinely wants a loud evening: a loft in the south of the city or a private house in a suburb. There the question does not arise at all.

Hotels and short-let flats

Most of the area’s rooms are in Tel Aviv, with a minority in Bat Yam, Ramat Gan and near the airport.

The rules are the same everywhere: the room number at the confirmation stage rather than in the first message, no asking reception to pass anything on, and if the lift needs a card, come down to the lobby.
