Holon is a city, not a Tel Aviv neighbourhood

Start with the thing that changes the most: Holon lies outside Tel Aviv, and getting there takes thirty-five to forty-five minutes rather than twenty. We say that at the beginning rather than at the end of the conversation, because it affects how you plan the evening more than any other detail.

In exchange you get things Tel Aviv simply does not have: large flats, houses with gardens, free parking outside the door and neighbours who are not pressed wall to wall against you. Anyone hosting a big group works out quickly that an evening in Holon is far more comfortable than the same evening in central Tel Aviv, and cheaper in everything that is not us.

Parking, at last

It sounds trivial and it is not. In every Tel Aviv neighbourhood the evening opens with twenty minutes of hunting for a space, and whoever arrives last arrives irritated. In Holon your guests park in the street next to the building for nothing, and most of them come by car.

Two practical consequences. Groups here are bigger, because arriving is not a constraint — fifteen people in Holon is routine, where in Neve Tzedek it is already a problem. And whoever drove is not drinking, so a show for a group where half of them are driving works differently from one where everybody came from a bar. Not worse, just different, and it helps us to know when you book.

A house with a garden: when it works and when it does not

Kiryat Sharet, Neot Rachel and Kiryat Ben Gurion are full of private houses and garden flats, and almost everyone with a garden asks whether the show can happen outside. It can, and there are four things to check.

The surface. Grass does not work. Heels sink into it and the show is over before it starts. You need a paved terrace, decking or any hard surface about two metres by two. If all you have is lawn, we will simply set up in the living room and leave the garden for the rest of the evening.

The fence. This surprises people: a neighbour across a fence hears better than a neighbour through a wall. Outdoors there is nothing to absorb the sound, and a group cheering in a garden at midnight is audible in three houses. If the garden is small and the neighbours are close, indoors is better.

The light. A garden at night is either too dark or too bright, and both spoil the show. Two warm light sources from the side are enough; a floodlight on the wall is not what you want.

Mosquitoes. It sounds like a joke and it is not one in summer. If you are planning to be outside, deal with it in advance.

Big flats and big groups

The average Holon flat is a whole room larger than its Tel Aviv equivalent, and that opens up formats that suffocate in the centre. A seventy-metre living room allows wide movement, real distance between the dancer and the audience, and a set with an entrance rather than dancing on the spot.

That is why bachelor parties are the most common booking in this city, usually with a large headcount. Above twelve guests a duo show is worth considering: with a big group a solo show leaves half the room feeling like distant spectators.

The industrial zone and event spaces

Holon has a large industrial zone with a number of spaces rented out for events, and a different kind of booking comes from there: company evenings and events for dozens of people.

Two things worth knowing about a space like that. Warehouse acoustics swallow music, so you need the venue’s own system rather than a portable speaker. And a show in a large hall needs a stage or a defined area, otherwise half the room cannot see. We will ask both of those questions in the messages, and the answers change which dancer we suggest.

Why booking ahead matters here

In Tel Aviv you can arrange a show for an hour from now. In Holon that works less well, and not because of policy but because of distance. A dancer already on her way into the centre is not going to turn around, so the choice of who is free narrows faster the later it gets.

Booking a day ahead solves it completely, and at weekends two days is better. If your plan is spontaneous anyway, just message us and we will tell you straight away who is actually available rather than stringing you along.

What people book in Holon

The mix: bachelor parties first, then birthdays in large flats and houses, then company evenings from the industrial zone. Home bookings are effectively all of it; there are almost no hotels in the city, and anyone who wants the hotel format goes to Jaffa or into Tel Aviv.

Some clients choose a cabin further down the road instead of a flat. That works, and it is a different distance and a different travel cost, so it is worth asking before you confirm.

Styles that work in a large space

The exact opposite of Neve Tzedek. There is room here, so the styles that need movement come into their own: club sets, go-go and latino and samba with the energy they carry. Pole is possible if there is a pole, and that happens in Holon more than in Tel Aviv because people install them in private houses.

Arrival to Holon takes thirty-five to forty-five minutes. It stretches during rush hour on the Ayalon and shortens late at night. We give you a real window rather than a twenty-minute promise that will not hold.

The price is the same as in the centre: 800 shekels solo, 1,400 duo, 2,200 for the VIP format, including travel, costume and music.
