A city on three levels

Haifa is built on a slope, and in practice it is three cities stacked on top of each other: the lower city by the port, Hadar in the middle, and the Carmel above.

The gap between them is a few hundred metres on a map and ten to fifteen minutes of driving in reality, because the road between them winds. So “Haifa” without the level tells us nothing, and we ask for it in the first message.

What is easy: once we know the level and the neighbourhood, the hour we give you is exact. Haifa has no Gush Dan-style traffic, and the evening roads flow.

The furthest point we drive to

The drive to Haifa takes an hour and a half to two hours, and there is no rounding that down.

Three things follow, and we say them straight away. First, there is a travel supplement, quoted over messages before anything is confirmed, together with the total. Second, nothing closes the same evening here — two days ahead is the sensible minimum, three in summer.

Third, and worth noting: a short format does not serve anyone well. If the drive is two hours, a duo or a VIP set makes far more sense than a twenty-minute number. Most of our bookings here are exactly that, and it is what we suggest first.

Steps, slopes and parking

In Hadar and on the Carmel slopes many buildings are not reached directly from the street: there is an external flight of steps, sometimes two, and sometimes the entrance is a floor below the road.

None of that prevents anything, but it needs to be known in advance. In heels and carrying a bag, forty external steps in the dark is not the same as a lift. Tell us whether there are steps and which side to come in from, and someone meeting her with a phone torch handles the rest.

Parking on the slopes is at an angle, usually along the incline, and in the narrow streets of Hadar it is taken by the evening. On the Carmel it is easier, and newer buildings have car parks.

A balcony over the bay

This is the most Haifa thing there is, from our side: almost every flat on the Carmel has a balcony with a view, and almost every client wants the show out there.

It is possible, and three things are worth knowing first. Those balconies are visible from the slope above — what hides you from the street does not hide you from the building higher up the hill. The wind at that height is strong in the evening, even in summer, which affects fabric and hair. And the floor on older balconies is usually smooth tile that turns slippery in the sea humidity.

The usual answer: start indoors and go out for one short part. Fashion and burlesque work nicely out there; go-go less so, because of the floor.

Who books here

Two main audiences. The first is local: groups of eight to twenty, birthdays and bachelor parties, in a flat on the Carmel or a house on the slopes.

The second is visitors: the Carmel and Bat Galim hotels, people up for a few days, or groups who came from the centre. Those bookings are smaller and closer to the hotel format.

On styles, Haifa asks for more latino and burlesque than average, which suits the spaces: relatively large living rooms and balconies, without the pressure of attached neighbours.

Neighbours on a slope

The logic of noise here is different from flat ground, and most people do not think about it.

Buildings stand at different levels, which means one roof is at the height of another’s window. Music aimed outwards reaches not the neighbour opposite but the neighbour above you on the slope, and sometimes three buildings at once.

Indoors there is no issue at all — the construction here is solid. The rule we give: outdoors until half past ten, and without bass. After that, inside, and it limits nothing about the evening.

Four details: which level of the city and which neighbourhood, hotel or flat, the hour, and how many of you. If there are external steps, add that too.

What is nearby

On the way to Haifa we pass Netanya, which is inside the standard band with no supplement. If you are flexible about location and want to avoid the travel charge, that is the closest option from the south.
