A long drive on an empty road

Beer Sheva is far away, but it is not difficult. The drive takes seventy-five to ninety-five minutes, and that figure holds at almost any hour.

The reason is simple: the road south in the evening is clear. There is none of the gamble of driving into Gush Dan and no interchange that seizes up. We leave, we drive, we arrive at the hour we said, which is the difference between Beer Sheva and closer cities where the time jumps around.

What it is not is a booking for an hour from now. A day ahead is the minimum, two at weekends. If you want a particular dancer from the catalogue, add another day.

The thing nobody expects: summer evenings here are pleasant

On the coast, summer ruins outdoor evenings. The humidity never drops and at eleven at night it is still sticky. In the desert it is the other way round.

Beer Sheva is dry, and the gap between day and night temperatures is enormous. At three in the afternoon in August you cannot stand outside, but by ten in the evening a dry wind comes through and it is genuinely comfortable. No humidity, nothing sticky, none of the mosquitoes you get near the sea.

The practical conclusion: this is one of the few cities on our list where a set in the yard works in the middle of summer. In that it is the exact opposite of Tiberias and Eilat, where summer closes the outdoors completely.

In winter it reverses: desert nights are cold, sometimes seven or eight degrees, everything moves indoors and it is worth putting the heating on beforehand.

A conversation we have nowhere else: the drive back

In every other city we discuss when the dancer arrives. Here we also discuss when she leaves.

After midnight the road north is completely empty, which sounds convenient, but it is an hour and a half of night driving after an evening of work. So we prefer the number to finish before midnight, and in practice we suggest a start between nine and half past ten.

Later is possible too; just say so in advance so we can plan her evening around it. What does not work is “we will start at ten” turning into one in the morning with no message.

Large flats and cheap to rent

Beer Sheva has an advantage the centre does not: space. Four and five-room flats are standard, living rooms are large, and in quarters like Ramot there are houses with yards.

Two things follow. First, almost any style fits here without compromise, including a club set and go-go, which would be choked in a Tel Aviv flat. Second, a duo fits easily, and we suggest it here more than elsewhere: if the drive is ninety minutes, a fuller format is worth it.

Another local pattern: groups rent a flat for a single evening rather than using someone’s home. That lets you be loud without a neighbour who knows you, but check the house rules with the owner in advance.

Who books here

Two streams. The first is local: groups of ten to twenty, birthdays and bachelor parties, in a flat or a house with a yard.

The second comes from around the tech park and the hospital: people down for working days, a short stay, sometimes a small company event at the end of a project. Those bookings are midweek, relatively early, and almost always solo.

There are hotels in the city but not many, mostly near the park and the station. The rule there is the usual one: room number at the confirmation stage, without involving reception. More on the hotel booking page.

Address, parking and quarters

The city is large and spread out, and a quarter of an hour separates its far ends. So give us the name of the quarter along with the street — “Ramot” or “Neve Zeev” matters more than the number.

Parking almost everywhere is easy and free, which is rare on our list. In the older quarters the streets are narrower, and there a junction beats a house number.

At a house with a yard the way in is through a gate, so someone needs to come out. If there is a dog, tell us in advance.

Our southern boundary

Beer Sheva is our regular southern point. Beyond it there is only Eilat, and that is a trip of several days rather than a drive.

If you are in a village or town nearby — Dimona, Arad, Ofakim, Netivot — send us the place and the hour. In most cases the answer is yes, with a travel supplement quoted up front rather than at the end of the evening.

What is nearby

Our closest points are Ashkelon and Ashdod, both about an hour from here. If your group is split between the south and the centre, all three are in a similar travel band.
