A city between two motorways

Or Yehuda is bounded by Route 4 to the west and Route 461 to the east, which gives it two opposite qualities.

The first is good: arrival times here are steadier than almost anywhere else we go. We come straight off the interchange without crossing busy streets, so thirty to forty-five minutes is a real figure rather than an average.

The second is less good: background noise. In the quarters near the road there is a constant low hum — not loud, but it never goes away. Indoors you do not notice it at all; in a yard it is present throughout.

The difference from neighbouring Yehud is exactly that: there an aircraft covers the music for fifteen seconds and then it is gone, and here it is quiet but continuous. The fix is simple — the speaker closer to the dancing area rather than louder.

The grill: the most common format here

In most cities the evening is built around a living room. In Or Yehuda it is built around a yard and a grill, and we usually arrive in the middle of it.

It is a good format, but it needs three things that are not required anywhere else.

A clean surface. The dancing area cannot be where fat has dripped onto the paving. Heels on greasy tile are dangerous, and this is the one request we repeat here on every booking.

Smoke. The grill should be finished before the set starts, or at least be on the far side of the yard. Smoke blowing straight at the dancer simply ends the number early.

Free hands. A group holding plates does not react, and that matters most in styles that live on audience response, such as go-go. Better to place the number after the food rather than instead of it.

Yards and neighbours

In the older quarters the houses are close together and the yards are small, which means the neighbour hears everything. In Neve Savyon and Ramat Pinkas the plots are larger and there is real space between houses.

The rule we give here: outdoors until ten, then inside. At a house with room around it you can stretch to eleven, but not with bass.

If you genuinely want a loud evening, choose a house with a large yard from the start. We will tell you honestly if the address you gave does not suit the style you asked for.

Neve Savyon: the newer part

Neve Savyon is built differently from the rest — large houses, wide streets, plenty of parking and quiet. As a venue it is the easiest address in the city.

There is room for any style, a duo fits without crowding, and both the yard and the living room work. The way in is through a gate, so someone needs to come out, and if there is a dog, tell us in advance.

It is also where the larger bookings come from: birthdays of fifteen to twenty-five people, sometimes a small company event held at a house.

Who books and what they choose

The common profile is family and friends: a group who have known each other for years, aged thirty-five to fifty, in a yard or a large living room.

The styles asked for are ethno, burlesque and latino — all three work well outdoors and in front of a mixed room. Lap dance is booked less often, and when it is, it is nearly always for a bachelor party.

There are no hotels in the city, so almost everything happens at your place.

Parking and finding the address

In the older quarters the streets are narrow and parking is taken in the evening. Give us a nearby junction rather than only a house number, and add five minutes.

In Neve Savyon and Ramat Pinkas there is no problem at all. If you are in a newer building with a car park, send the code and floor number at the confirmation stage.

What is nearby

Or Yehuda borders Kiryat Ono to the north, Yehud to the east and Ramat Gan to the west, with Holon a similar distance south. All of them are the same price and the same travel band.
