A town that runs on a flight schedule

Yehud is a five-minute drive from Ben Gurion airport, and that sets almost everything on this page.

In other cities a booking is nearly always a home. Here it is roughly half and half: half the evenings are a house or a villa, and half are a hotel room by the airport. Those two groups book at different hours, for different lengths, and sometimes for different styles.

The drive out takes thirty to forty-five minutes and it is relatively predictable, because Route 1 and the interchange are close. Even at busy hours there is none of the guesswork of driving into Gush Dan.

Airport hotels: what is different about them

The hotels around here are built around flights rather than around tourism, and that has a few consequences worth knowing.

First, hours. A good share of the bookings are late — after an evening landing — or early, when the flight is in the morning. Both suit us: the road is empty at either end.

Second, the way in. These hotels have an active lobby almost around the clock, so send the room number at the confirmation stage rather than asking reception to pass on a message or call the room. She goes straight up.

Third, the room. A standard hotel room is about three metres by four with a bed taking the middle, which is why lap dance and fashion work best there. Pole does not fit, and a club set will be heard in the corridor.

Aircraft noise and outdoor sets

It sounds like a joke until it happens in the middle of a number.

Part of the town sits under an approach path, and a low aircraft covers the music for ten to fifteen seconds. Indoors you barely notice; in a garden it is very noticeable, and in the evening the frequency is high.

What we do about it: for an outdoor set, place the speaker closer rather than relying on volume. And if you know your house is directly under the path, do the number indoors — she will ask about it herself when we arrive.

Neve Monosson and the villas

Neve Monosson is the green, quiet part of Yehud: large houses with gardens, wide streets, plenty of parking.

As a venue it is one of the easiest addresses in the area. There is room for any style, you can be outside, and there is no neighbour through the wall. A duo fits without crowding the room, and this is where it gets booked most around here.

As in any villa neighbourhood, the way in is through a gate and someone has to come out. If there is a dog in the yard, say so in advance.

The old town: attached houses and narrow lanes

The centre of Yehud is built differently: older houses, some of them attached, and lanes where two cars barely pass each other.

There our request is always the same: give us a junction rather than only a house number, and have someone come out. In the evening, in those streets, finding an address takes longer than the drive from the main road.

Noise-wise the houses are close together, so outdoors is best kept to before ten. Indoors there is no issue at all.

Who books here

Two completely different profiles, and this is the only city we cover where they are balanced.

The first is local: a birthday or an evening with friends at a house or a villa, a group of eight to twenty.

What is nearby

Yehud borders Kiryat Ono to the west, with Petah Tikva and Rosh HaAyin to the north and east. All three are within fifteen to twenty minutes, so if your plans move between towns it makes no difference to us.
