This is a trip, not a drive

Start with what separates Eilat from every other page here: nobody drives down for an evening and back.

It is four hours from Gush Dan, so the dancer comes to Eilat for a few days rather than for one number. That changes the whole arrangement: the date is fixed in advance, the format is agreed in advance, and the exact terms — including what is and is not included — are set out over messages before anything is confirmed.

What never happens: no improvising and no “we will see at the end”. You get a final figure before you confirm, here as everywhere.

The practical upshot: write early. In season — holidays, the summer break, long weekends — as early as you can.

A bachelor party town

Eilat is the country’s first choice for a bachelor party, and it shows in our bookings: most of them here are a group down for a whole weekend.

That produces a different profile from anywhere else. The group has been in holiday mode for two days, everyone is in the same hotel, and there is no “when do we start” stage — the evening is already running when we arrive.

The other side of the same coin: a group two days into a holiday drinks differently from one that met at eight in the evening. We do not lecture and we do not cancel over it, but two things are worth knowing. First, the rules do not move: guests do not initiate contact, the dancer sets the distance and she ends the set. Second, in a group like that it helps to have one sober person as the contact who opens the door.

A hotel in Eilat is not a hotel in a city

The hotels here are large resorts and they work differently from an urban hotel.

The lobby is busy all day and full of families, the corridors are long, and some hotels have a guard at the entrance and a lift that needs a key card. None of that prevents anything, but it needs a little arranging: the room number at the confirmation stage, someone who knows she is on the way, and a trip down to the lobby if the lift is locked.

What is not done: no asking reception to pass a message, no waiting by the desk, no calling the room from the lobby. More on the hotel booking page.

As for the room: a suite or a family room gives reasonable space, while a standard room is three metres by four with a bed in the middle. There lap dance, fashion and pin-up work, and a club set will be heard in the corridor.

A villa or a holiday flat: the format that really works

A group of ten or more is better off renting a villa, and that is true from our side as well.

A villa has a large living room, no neighbour through the wall, you can start early and finish late, and any style is possible — including a duo or a VIP set, which suit a weekend group best.

Two practical notes. First, check with the owner until what hour music is allowed — residential Eilat has rules and they are enforced. Second, most villas have a pool, which is lovely right up until someone wants to dance beside water. You need a dry area to one side rather than wet tile.

Heat, air conditioning and hours

Between May and October Eilat is hot in a way that changes planning. At three in the afternoon outdoors is impossible, and at ten at night it is still thirty degrees.

Two rules follow, and we give them every time. First: the set happens indoors, with the air conditioning started half an hour beforehand. A room that only begins to cool during the number is not the same thing.

Second: if you do want it outside, that works only after ten and only beside a shaded pool. In summer we will advise against it; in winter, November to March, the evenings here are pleasant and outdoors is no problem at all.

A set on a boat in the marina

Eilat is one of two places in the country where a set on deck actually happens for us.

The rules are the same as on any boat: the number happens at anchor with the engine off, danced barefoot rather than in heels, and the skipper decides where you anchor. What is different here is the water — the gulf is calmer, so the chance of the show being called off because of swell is considerably lower than on the Mediterranean.

One thing to note: you book the boat yourselves, and the hour is agreed with us in advance, because the boat leaves at a fixed time and there is no arriving late.

Eilat is far from everything else on the list, and the closest point we cover in the standard band is Ashdod. If you are flexible about location and want an evening without long planning, that is an ordinary booking.
